Querfurt (noble family)
The Lords of Querfurt were a noble noble family , which died out in 1496 and named themselves after the Querfurt Castle ( Saalekreis ).
history
The first notarized representative of the noble free sex was Bruno von Querfurt (* around 974; † 1009). The noble lords of Querfurt were also burgraves of Magdeburg for centuries , for example in 1234 Burchardus Burcgravius de Querenvorde . The Counts of Mansfeld , the nobles of Schraplau and the nobles of Vitzenburg come from this family. The Querfurt main line went out with the death of Bruno XI . in 1496. Its territory was formed by the Magdeburg office of Querfurt after death .

- The family coat of arms is divided seven times by silver and red. On the crowned helmet with red and silver covers on golden poles eight little flags marked like the shield, four each fluttering to the right and left.
- Later another helmet decoration was carried: On the crowned helmet a bowl-shaped umbrella board, like the shield, with clusters of black cock feathers on top.
- The coat of arms of the Querfurt burgraves of Magdeburg, used in the 13th and 14th centuries, is split and shows half a red eagle on the right in silver at the split line, and on the left divided seven times by silver and red. Helmet with the eight flags.
- Coat of arms of the Counts of Querfurt-Mansfeld: quartered, fields 1 and 4 divided across seven times by silver and red (Querfurt), fields 2 and 3 on silver 6 red diamonds (Mansfeld)
