Rachel Grady is an American film and television director and film producer of documentaries .

Life

In 1997 Grady teamed up with Heidi Ewing on a documentary project on Scientology . The two women decided to run a film production together. They founded Loki Films , named after a friend's daughter. They produced numerous documentaries for television and for the cinema.

At the 2007 Academy Awards , Grady and Ewing were nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary for their work on the documentary Jesus Camp . In 2007 they were also nominated for an Emmy Award for the documentary The Boys of Baraka , which was broadcast on PBS , in the Outstanding International Programming - Long Form category. Grady and Ewing were honored with the 2010 Peabody Award for documentary 12th & Delaware . In 2015 there was another Emmy nomination for Women Who Make America in the Outstanding Historical Programming category .

Private life

Grady became the mother of a son in 2010 through artificial insemination using anonymous sperm donation.
