Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) is the public service broadcaster ( radio and television ) for the French-speaking audience in Switzerland. The station belongs to the SRG SSR group .

history

The broadcaster emerged on January 1, 2010 from the merger of the French-speaking Swiss television Télévision Suisse Romande with the local Radio Suisse Romande . On February 29, 2012 there was a relaunch of the radio and television programs as well as the station's website, which coincided with the conversion of television broadcasting to HDTV .

Organization and financing

The station is based in Geneva and Lausanne . It has its own offices in every French-speaking canton as well as in Bern , Zurich and Lugano . He also has his own foreign correspondents. In 2012, RTS has a budget of 380 million Swiss francs. The station has around 1,600 employees.

Programs

RTS produces four national radio programs: La Première is RTS 'most popular program, which is in the tradition of the French radios généralistes ; Espace 2 is the cultural program with ambitious programs as well as classical and jazz music; the pop wave Couleur 3 offers entertainment for a wider young audience; and the music channel Option Musique brings light, predominantly francophone music.

There are also two national television programs, RTS Un and RTS Deux , which have emerged from the previous channels TSR 1 and TSR 2. RTS INFO can be received as a live stream all over the world.

reception

All radio programs can be received terrestrially, analogue and digital, via satellite and via an internet connection via live stream.

The media library on the RTS website allows all programs to be viewed within Switzerland for seven days after they have been broadcast. A selection of programs is available worldwide. As of February 29, 2012, all RTS television programs, except for the news, which were in 2014

should follow, broadcast in HD. The parallel broadcast analog / digital will be maintained until 2015. As RTS is a partner in TV5 Monde  , some television programs can also be received via this channel.
