Radio X (Basel)
Radio X is a non-commercial radio station that can be received wirelessly in Basel and the nearby agglomeration communities on 94.5 MHz and in Liestal and the surrounding area on 93.6 MHz, in several cable networks in northwestern Switzerland and via live stream . Radio X can be received in Zurich via DAB +.
organization
The regular broadcasting of Radio X began on April 19, 1998. Since then, Radio X has offered a 24-hour program, which is contested by several independently organized editorial offices, whose more than 200 employees are volunteers. A small, paid core team takes care of administration, acquisition, interns, project support, etc. The station sees itself as a youth and cultural station and is organized as a foundation. There is no organizational connection to the radio station of the same name in Frankfurt am Main .
Program and audience
It is the only radio in the region that also offers broadcasts in foreign languages. The regular audience is around 52,000 people per day.
Radio X broadcasts a program with over 4,000 music tracks in a wide variety of styles. Current articles, calendar of events, cultural tips, special series and the political special round off the daily program.
In the early evening, from Monday to Friday, “Die Welt in Basel” is a guest on Radio X: The multilingual programs in English, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Kurdish, Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian offer news, music and interesting facts. Music will be broadcast from 9 p.m. and earlier on the weekend. The music specials deal with Basel performers, metal , indie , electronica , dubstep , drum and bass , reggae , hip-hop , house and trance .

Radio X is a member of the Union of Non-Commercial Local Radios (UNIKOM) .
Prices
In 2013 the Radio X Foundation was awarded the 15th Basel Prize for Integration.
In 2018 Radio X received the Culture Prize of the City of Basel . The prize is endowed with CHF 20,000.
