Rana Okada ( Japanese 岡田 良 菜 , Okada Rana ; born January 5, 1991 in Ōtsu ) is a Japanese snowboarder . She starts in the halfpipe discipline .
Career
Okada has been participating in competitions on the TTR World Snowboard Tour and the FIS World Cup since 2006 . She drove her first FIS World Cup race in November 2006 in Saas-Fee , which she finished in 15th place. At the Snowboard World Championships 2007 in Arosa she came in 19th place. In February 2009 she reached her first podium in the FIS World Cup with third place in Stoneham . At the Snowboard World Championships 2009 she reached eighth place. At her first Olympic participation in Vancouver in 2010 , she finished 29th. At the subsequent Roxy Chicken Jam 2010 in Mammoth , she came second. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season she took third place at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Copper Mountain . In January 2011 she came in tenth place at the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina and seventh place in the Winter X-Games 2011 . In the 2013/14 season she won the Snowboard Jamboree and FIS World Cup races in Stoneham . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she came in fifth. She finished the season in third place in the World Cup halfpipe rating.
Okada became the Japanese halfpipe champion in 2009 and 2013.
