Real in Rio is a 2011 song written by Sérgio Mendes , Carlinhos Brown and Siedah Garrett . The film song from the soundtrack of the animated film Rio was sung by Jesse Eisenberg . He was supported by Jamie Foxx , Anne Hathaway , George Lopez , Will.i.am and the Rio Singers.

The song appeared in the film in two parts. The first part appeared in the first scene of the film and is interrupted by a bird hunter. The song is taken up again in the penultimate scene. On the soundtrack album and in the accompanying video, the song is played as one track.

The song received an Oscar nomination for Best Song as just one of two songs of the 2011 film year . At the Oscar ceremony in 2012 the competitor won Man or Muppet . Both songs had the fact that they were actually sung by actors. When the nominations were announced, the name Sérgio Mendes caused enthusiasm. The then 71-year-old Brazilian is considered the founder of Bossa Nova and was already present at the 1968 Academy Awards , where he was able to present The Look of Love . He was called to Rio as musical director and wrote the song with Carlinhos Brown. The lyrics to the song are by Siedah Garrett.
