Reanimation ( English for "resuscitation") is the first remix album by the US Nu-Metal band Linkin Park . It was released on July 30, 2002 and contains remixes of all twelve songs from the debut album Hybrid Theory as well as eight additional tracks, which are mostly shorter intertitles. It achieved high chart positions worldwide and achieved gold in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain - and even platinum status in the USA. With 1,900,000 units sold in the United States alone (as of June 2014), Reanimation is one of the most successful remix albums of all time.
Emergence
After Mike Shinoda had received various remixes, he decided to release an EP with remixes. Band member and DJ Joe Hahn was also enthusiastic about this idea. With his support, the project was expanded so that now an LP was being worked on. Both contributed some remixes to the album. In the end, over fifty remixes were reportedly produced, of which Shinoda selected the best. It was published on July 30, 2002.
Music genre
The album's producer, Mike Shinoda, had many songs remixed by other artists from the underground hip-hop scene. Therefore, compared to the originals, they were more influenced by hip-hop and electro. Sometimes the songs got darker and quieter.

Resuscitation received mixed reviews. Plattentests.de wrote that the album stank in its utter superfluity and awarded four out of ten points. Also Laut.de referred to the album as unnecessary and "sporadic artistic value". Allmusic, however, thinks the album is a step in the right direction. Rolling Stone wrote that the music was not groundbreaking, but had its own charm compared to the original tracks and therefore awarded three out of five points.
