René Privat (born December 4, 1930 in Coux , † July 19, 1995 in Le Puy-en-Velay ) was a French cyclist .

René Privat was a professional racing driver from 1953 to 1962. During these years he mainly won smaller bike races and criteria in his home country. In 1955 he won the Critérium International , in 1956 he was second in the French road championship and in 1959 third. One of his greatest successes was the victory at Milan – Sanremo in 1960.

Between 1953 and 1961 Privat started eight times in the Tour de France . In 1956 he was ninth overall, in 1957 he won two stages and wore the yellow jersey for four days . In 1960 he decided another stage for himself.
