The Rheingau Wine Week in Wiesbaden , colloquially known as the " Wine Festival " , takes place every year from the second Friday in August on ten consecutive days on the Schlossplatz and the Dern'schen area , which is located behind the New Town Hall . The “longest wine bar in the world” is also, measured by the 118 stands (98 of which are wine stands) and over a thousand wines from the Rheingau region , the “largest wine festival in the world”. Mainly Riesling is served, around 250,000 bottles annually. In 2015 the wine festival was held for the 40th time. In addition to the wine and food stands, there are three stages in front of the steps of the New Town Hall , in front of the market church and on the Dernschen area, on which music is played until 10 p.m. Traditionally there is only one beer stand at the wine festival , namely that of the Ratskeller in the adjoining town hall.

The Rheingau Wine Week attracts over 400,000 guests every year.
