Ricarda Brandts

Ricarda Brandts (born August 26, 1955 in Erkelenz ) is a German lawyer . From August 1, 2008 she was a judge at the Federal Social Court before she was President of the North Rhine-Westphalia Regional Social Court from November 26, 2010 to February 26, 2013 . On February 27, 2013, she assumed the office of President of the Constitutional Court and the Higher Administrative Court of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Life

Brandts completed his law studies in July 1981 with the first state examination in law. After the Second State Examination in Law in April 1984, she was a research assistant at the Chair for Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and General Legal Theory at the Ruhr University in Bochum from September of this year to April 1988 . Here it was in 1990 with a thesis on "The relationship of coercion means and taking away the prey: as a contribution to limitations and difficulties of causal theory" Dr. iur. PhD.

In April 1988 Brandts joined the social justice system of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , where she initially worked at the Dortmund Social Court and from 1992 at the Regional Social Court . In October 1995 she was transferred to the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs in North Rhine-Westphalia , where she was head of the department responsible for labor and social justice until October 1997. In November 1997 Brandts was appointed President of the Dortmund Social Court. In June 2000, she became Vice President of the Regional Social Court.

On March 13, 2008, Brandts was elected judge at the Federal Social Court by the judges' selection committee. She took up this position on August 1, 2008. The presidium of the court assigned Brandts to the 1st Senate responsible for health insurance law.

On November 26, 2010, she was appointed the new President of the State Social Court of North Rhine-Westphalia. The cabinet of Prime Minister Hannelore Kraft (SPD) decided on February 19, 2013 that Ricarda Brandt will be the new President of the Higher Administrative Court (OVG) in Münster. At the same time she became President of the Constitutional Court of North Rhine-Westphalia. On February 27, 2013, she received her certificate of appointment.

Brandts is a lecturer at the University of Duisburg-Essen and the Ruhr University in Bochum and co-author of a commentary on employment promotion law.
