World Wrestling Championships 2006
The 2006 World Wrestling Championships took place from September 25 to October 1, 2006 in Guangzhou . It was wrestled in both Greco-Roman and free styles . The wrestlers were divided into seven weight classes. A total of 435 wrestlers took part, 220 of them in Greco-Roman and 215 in freestyle, as well as 164 female wrestlers.
German participants
The DRB sent a contingent of 16 wrestlers who achieved the following placements:
Greco-Roman:
- under 60 kg: Heinz Marnette (9th),
- under 66 kg: Marcus Thätner (20th),
- under 74 kg: Konstantin Schneider (5th),
- under 84 kg: Bernhard Mayr (24th),
- under 120 kg: Ralf Böhringer (17.)
Freestyle:
- under 74 kg: Peter Weisenberger (33.),
- under 84 kg: David Bichinashvili (9th),
- under 96 kg: Stefan Kehrer (9th),
- under 120 kg: Martin Siddiqui (19.)
Women:
- under 48 kg: Alexandra Engelhardt (13th),
- under 51 kg: Brigitte Wagner (5th),
