Mohamad Abd El Fatah
Mohamad Abd El Fatah ( Arabic محمد عبد الفتاح, DMG Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ ; * February 4, 1978 in Suez) is an Egyptian wrestler . It was 2006 world champion in the middleweight Greco-Roman style.
Career
Mohamad Ibrahim Abd El Fatah started wrestling as a teenager in 1988. He is a member of the Al Qahira Cairo Police Sports Club and is coached by Khairy Saleh. He is a sports journalist but focuses entirely on wrestling. At a size of 1.85 meters, he wrestled or wrestled first in the middleweight division and since 2010 in the light heavyweight division . He continues a good tradition of Egyptian wrestlers who were able to achieve some great successes, especially in the Greco-Roman style at the Olympic Games and World Championships.
In 1997 he won the Pan-Arab Games in Damascus and in 1998 the African Championships in Cairo. He was also successful at the 1998 Junior World Championship in Cairo, where he finished second in the welterweight division . In 1999 Mohamad Abd El Fatah won the Middleweight African Games in Johannesburg even in both styles. However, he never started in free style later.
In 2000 he was again able to become African champion; he also managed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Sydney . In Sydney he came to a middleweight victory over Quincey Clark from the United States . After a defeat against Luiz Enrique Mendez Lazo from Cuba , he was eliminated after the 2nd round and finished 8th.
In 2002 Mohamad Abd El Fatah was again African champion in Cairo and this year he succeeded for the first time in winning a medal at a world wrestling championship. In Moscow he defeated Oleksandr Darahan from Ukraine , Bartolomiej Pryczkowski from Poland , Muchran Vakhtangadze from Georgia and Bradley Vering from the United States in the middleweight division . In the semifinals he lost to Alexander Menschtschikow from Russia , but with a victory over Levon Geghamjan from Armenia he won a bronze medal .
In the following years he could not build on this success and did not qualify for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. In 2006 he was in excellent shape again. He surprised in the World Cup this year in Guangzhou , the entire professional world and has won victories over Attila Bátky , Slovakia , Ka-Koma Bella runners, South Africa , the Olympic champion from 2004 Alexei Mishin , Russia, which he with 2: 0 laps and 7: 0 points clear hit, Badri Chassaia , Georgia, and Nazmi Avluca from Turkey champion .
In 2008 Mohamad Abd El Fatah failed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing again in Rome and Novi Sad . But he achieved a good result again at the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul . Where he took a very good 5th place starting in the light heavyweight division. On the way to this success he won over Irakli Kadschaia from Georgia, Evgeni Aschkalow from Uzbekistan and Yunior Estrada Falcon from Cuba. He lost to Elis Guri from Bulgaria in the semifinals, and in the battle for a bronze medal in the World Cup he also had to admit defeat to Rustam Totrow from Russia. This 5th place was enough to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London . This was his second participation in the Olympic Games after 2000.
