Robert Walser Prize
The Robert Walser Prize is an international literary prize that was founded in 1978 by the city of Biel / Bienne , Robert Walser's hometown , and the Canton of Bern . This literary prize aims to promote contemporary authors in memory of Robert Walser.
Alternating every two years (since 2004), first prose works from the original languages German and French are awarded. The funding has been endowed with CHF 20,000 since 2006. For the first time in 2018, a German and a French-language work were awarded at the same time, each with a prize money of CHF 20,000.
The foundation is supported by the Robert Walser Biel / Bienne Foundation , which is not associated with the Robert Walser Foundation in Bern .
