Robert Fein (born December 8, 1907 in Vienna ; † January 2, 1975 ibid) was an Austrian weightlifter and Olympic champion .

Career

Robert Fein started out as a gymnast and swimmer in Vienna and began lifting weights in 1928 when he became a member of the Ursus athletes' club in Vienna. He won the title of European lightweight champion in Vienna as early as 1929. This began a career that culminated in the 1936 Olympic victory in Berlin. There he won the gold medal in the lightweight together with the Egyptian Anwar Misbah and both were able to beat the world record at that time with a weight of 342.50 kg each. In 1937 he was awarded the gold medal for services to the Republic of Austria .

As a Jew, Robert Fein suffered reprisals during the Nazi era and could no longer start. After the Second World War , he held several high offices in the Austrian and international weightlifting association.

  • 1936, gold medal , OS in Berlin , OD, Le, with 342.5 kg (105 - 100 - 137.5), together with Mohammed Mesbah , Egypt , 342.5 kg (92.5 - 105 - 145) and before Karl Jansen, Germany, 327.5 kg;
  • 1937, 2nd place , World Championships in Paris , OD, Le, with 355 kg (107.5 - 107.5 - 140), behind Anthony Terlazzo , USA , 357.5 kg (105 - 110 - 142.5) and in front Jansen, 330 kg;

Robert Fein was German champion and fighting game winner in 1930 in Breslau with 305 kg, OD, Le, ahead of Stephan, Magdeburg and won several Austrian national championship titles.
