Robert Mood

Robert Mood (born December 8, 1958 in Kragerø , Telemark ) is a Norwegian lieutenant general . He was Inspector General of the Norwegian Army, headed UNTSO from 2009 to 2011 and was the first head of UNSMIS .

Robert Mood is married and has one son.

Mood started his military career in 1979. He served in the Brigaden i Nord-Norge as a group leader , platoon leader and company commander . In between he visited the Krigsskolen in Oslo. During the civil war in Lebanon, he served on the staff of the Norwegian UNIFIL - battalion . In 1993 he became deputy commander of the Telemark Battalion . After training with the United States Marine Corps , he served on the 6th Division staff until 1998. He then became the commander of the Telemark Battalion, which was used in Kosovo from 1999-2000 . As head of the planning staff of the Norwegian High Command, he was promoted to colonel in 2000 . In 2002 Mood was promoted to brigade and in 2004 head of Hærens Transformasjons- og Doktrinekommando . After Lars Sølvberg's dismissal, Mood became the Army General Inspector in 2005.

In January 2009, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon appointed him the new head of UNTSO. Mood held the post until 2011. From the beginning of April 2012 he supported the Special Representative for the United Nations and the Arab League for Syria, Kofi Annan, and on April 27, 2012 he was appointed head of UNSMIS. On July 20, 2012, he handed the post to Senegalese Lieutenant General Babacar Gaye .

Mood was promoted to lieutenant general on January 23, 2014 and head of the Norwegian military mission at NATO's European headquarters in Brussels.
