Rogier Oosterbaan

Rogier Oosterbaan (born July 18, 1978 in Nijmegen ) is a former Dutch ski racer . He was 18 times Dutch champion .

Oosterbaan was taken skiing for the first time by his father when he was five. At the age of around seven he took part in club championships and regional competitions for the first time. Only a few years later, those in charge of the Dutch Ski Association discovered his talent and he was taken abroad to training camps and competitions. After graduating from school, Oosterbaan concentrated fully on ski racing.

At the Junior World Championship in Schladming in 1997 , Oosterbaan first attracted international attention when he was 13th in the slalom. In the giant slalom he finished 39th. He was unable to fully build on these achievements in the following year, and he was 36 in the giant slalom in the 1998 Junior World Championships in Chamonix . In the slalom he was eliminated in the first round.

In 2001, he took in St. Anton for the first time at an Alpine World Skiing Championships in part and was in the slalom 30. Two years later at the World Championships in St. Moritz is Oosterbaan improved by one place and was 29. In the Alpine World Skiing Championships in 2005 in Bormio was Oosterbaan the only starter from the Netherlands and was 20th in slalom.

Oosterbaan has won seven FIS races in his career . In the European Cup was his best result an eleventh place in December 2004 in the slalom in Spindleruv Mlyn . From 1998 to 2005 Oosterbaan took part in 36 World Cup races, but could not finish any with two valid runs. From 1999 to 2005 Oosterbaan was the Dutch champion 18 times. He won seven times in the giant slalom, five times in the slalom and six times in the combination. He ended his career in March 2005.
