Roland Gross
Roland "Rollie" Gross (born January 13, 1909 in San Antonio , Texas , † February 11, 1989 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor .
Life
Gross began his career in the film industry in Hollywood in 1935 as a production illustrator in the fantasy - adventure film She - ruler of a lost world (She), but switched in 1943 to work as a film editor.
At the Academy Awards in 1945 , Gross was nominated for an Oscar for Best Editing for the romantic drama None But the Lonely Heart (1944) directed by Clifford Odets , starring Cary Grant , Ethel Barrymore and Barry Fitzgerald .
Gross, who was a member of the American Cinema Editors (ACE) professional guild founded in 1950, was involved in editing 45 films and television series until 1975 .
