Ron Huldai
Ron Huldai ( Hebrew רוֹן חוּלְדָּאִי Rōn Chūlda'ī ; * August 26, 1944 in Kibbutz Chulda , Mandate Palestine ) is an Israeli politician of the social democratic ʿAvodah , former fighter pilot and school director .
Huldai grew up in Kibbutz Chulda. In 1963 he joined the Israeli Air Force . During his 26-year service as a fighter pilot, he took part in the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War , among other things . When he retired from active service, he held the rank of Brigadier General ( Tat-Aluf ).
Huldai now fulfilled a long-cherished wish and, like his parents, worked in education. He became the principal of the Herzliya Hebrew High School in Tel Aviv .
Huldai was elected mayor of Tel Aviv in 1998. He was re-elected in 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2018. During his tenure, the city developed into a center for over 600 start-up companies .
2009 awarded him Tel Aviv University , the honorary doctorate .
Huldai is married and has three children.
