The Krylatskoje rowing channel ( Russian Гребной канал “Крылатское” ) is an artificial lake in the western Moscow district of Krylatskoje , which has been used since 1973 as a regatta course for canoeing and rowing .

history

The rowing channel was built in 1972 and 1973 for the 1973 European Rowing Championships in the immediate vicinity of the Moskva in the Moscow district of Krylatskoje .

For the 1980 Olympic Games , the facility was expanded to include the velodrome to form the Krylatskoje sports complex. The rowing and canoeing competitions took place in Krylatskoje.

On the occasion of the canoe racing world championships in 2014 , the facility was overhauled and renovated.

The Krylatskoje rowing channel has two lanes: a competition lane with a length of 2340 m and a width of 125 m and a training lane with a width of 75 m. It is the world's first system with a separate training channel.

Six lanes are available for rowing competitions and nine for canoeing competitions.

The partially covered grandstand in the finish area in the south of the rowing channel has a capacity of 3500 seats. It is not parallel to the bank, but is positioned at an angle to allow a better view of the competitions on the water. At the 1980 Olympic Games, the capacity of the facility with temporary stands was a total of 14,530 seats and 5,000 standing places.
