Rudolf Rubi (born February 20, 1918 in Unterseen ; † July 4, 2004 in Grindelwald ) was a Swiss local historian , editor and teacher.

activity

After attending the Muristalden teacher training college ( Muristalden campus ) in Bern , Rubi worked as a teacher from 1943 to 1980. Stations were Burglauenen (1943–1951) and Grindelwald (1951–1980). In addition, he worked for the Oberland Volksblatt and the Echo von Grindelwald . He worked as a co-founder and secretary at the Grindelwald Heimatverein.

Rubi found the main field of research on local history topics in the vicinity of Grindelwald, where he is an honorary citizen. While researching a book in 1984, Rubi came across evidence that an Eiger cave existed in the southeast face of the Eiger . This cave had been known since 1828 and was used as accommodation on the mountain, but it was forgotten with the construction of refuges in the Eiger catchment area. As a result of the research, she was rediscovered. He also owned a "Chronicle of the Eiger North Face" - a collection of newspaper reports on events in the wall from 1932 to 1947. He then continued the chronicle himself with his own seven books.
