Runology
Runology ( the study of the runes ) is a humanities discipline that deals with the origin, development and function of runic writing. She researches rune monuments with philological means in order to gain knowledge about culture and linguistic history at the time of the Great Migration and the Vikings . It is a sub-area of German and Scandinavian studies .
