The Saxon Finance Court is the only instance of financial jurisdiction in Saxony.

The court has been housed in the villa-like building at Richterstraße 8 in the Zentrum-Nord district since 2001, which was built in 1910 as a commandant's office. Before that, the court resided in rented rooms at Käthe-Kollwitz-Str. 1. After the war, the building was used by the Soviet Army and the KGB secret service and had to be completely gutted and completely renovated. Listening devices ("bugs") were found in all rooms, and the sanitary facilities were neglected. During a visit to Leipzig, the then President of the Federal Fiscal Court said that the Saxon Finance Court had the most beautiful building of all the tax courts .

Like all tax courts, the Saxon FG is a court of first instance, but it has the rank of a higher regional court - as can be seen from the designation of the judges' bodies, the classification of the judges' positions, the remedies or the structure of the lawyers' fees. The Federal Fiscal Court in Munich is subordinate to it . The tax court is responsible for

Court organization

The Saxon FG consists of eight senates (2008). The Senate of the Finance Court consists of three professional judges and two honorary judges. Responsibilities are divided up according to the exit authorities (tax offices - customs offices - child benefit offices). It is customary to schedule appointments with the participation of distant authorities in the late morning and early afternoon; If authorities from Leipzig and the surrounding area are involved, scheduling at the end of the day is common.
