The railcars of the X 76500 series , also called XGC or AGC Diesel, are the diesel-electric variant of the autorail à grande capacité (AGC). This multiple unit series is the largest single order in the history of the SNCF to date . Only the Alstom Coradia Polyvalent and Bombardier Régio2N ordered afterwards will be procured in even larger numbers (delivery from 2013).

Autorail à grande capacité is available in three other versions: Z 27500 as an electric dual-system multiple unit for 25 kV at 50 Hz and 1.5 kV direct voltage (ZGC), B 81500 as a two-motor vehicle for 1.5 kV direct voltage with additional diesel generator units (BGC) and B 82500 as a two-system and two-motor multiple unit for 1.5 and 25 kV and additional diesel drive (BBGC / BiBi).

description

The X 76500 were procured in three and four parts. 39 four-car and 124 three-car trains are in use at SNCF. The individual car bodies, which are essentially the same in terms of car structure in the versions with different drives, are connected to Jakobs bogies by joints . The floor of the car is low-floor for stepless entry. Only the space between the entrances in the end sections and the cab and service coupling ends above the end bogies, which are also motor bogies, is high-floor. It is accessible via three levels. The only slightly raised floor above the Jakobs bogies has ramps.

The multiple units are equipped with multiple controls that allow three units to be coupled. In principle, this is also possible with electric railcars of the vehicle family, but mixed coupling is only permitted for units that were procured by the regions of Basse-Normandie and Lorraine with the ZCGs of the same owners.
