history

San Isidro was the seat of the provincial government of the Province of Nueva Ecija from 1850 to 1917 . In 1896 there was a "secret march" of the revolutionaries from Cabiao to San Isidro to attack the Spanish provincial government. The Filipino revolutionaries emerged victorious from this attack. This event is known today as Unang Sigaw ng Nueva Ecija ("First Call of Nueva Ecija").

In 1899, San Isidro briefly became the seat of the Revolutionary Congress during the First Philippine Republic , while the government of Emilio Aguinaldo resided in Cabanatuan after Malolos and Calumpit in Bulacan Province were conquered by the Americans. Frederick Funston planned to capture Aguinaldo in San Isidro towards the end of the Philippine-American War , but he did not succeed.

The Wright Institute in San Isidro, founded in 1903, was one of the first high school establishments outside of Metro Manila during US rule.
