The Savoy Alps are part of the Western Alps . They are located south of Lake Geneva in the historic Savoy landscape in the French departments of Savoie and Haute-Savoie .

In the mountain group classification agreed between France and Italy in 1924, the mountain ranges of Savoy are not regarded as a single group; they belong partly to the Graian Alps (in the southeast, including the Mont Blanc group ), partly to the Savoy Prealps .
