The Schlosspark tournament is an equestrian tournament that takes place in Mönchengladbach - Wickrath . The venue is the riding stadium at Wickrath Castle .

Tournament history

Until 2010 the tournament consisted of the disciplines show jumping and dressage riding . In the form that existed up to that year, it has been held since 2002.

In dressage, Grand Prix , Grand Prix Freestyle and a qualifying test for the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal were held up to 2010 . The highlight of the jumping was the Mönchengladbach Grand Prix , an S *** class jumping test. In addition, as part of the Schlosspark tournament, a qualification for the Bundeschampionat of the German show jumping horse was held every year, which is the main competition on every Sunday of the event.

The starting field is often occupied with high ranking. Isabell Werth competed regularly , but Nadine Capellmann and the dressage equestrian team of the United States, which was trained by Klaus Balkenhol at the time, with Debby McDonald , Leslie Morse , Robert Dover and Guenter Seidel were also on the start lists. In 2011 and 2012 the tournament was canceled due to a lack of sponsors. In 2011 the 25th Palace Park Tournament was to be held. In 2012, the cancellation was made shortly before the tournament. In the press, the managing director of the Mönchengladbach marketing company that marketed the tournament was quoted as saying: “ After the cancellation last year, we really worked hard and supported the preparations for the anniversary tournament this year with all our strength. ... Unfortunately I have to assume that the popular Schlosspark tournament has now died. "

Wickrather riding days and a new beginning of the palace park tournament

Between 2013 and 2015, the Wickrath Breeding, Riding and Driving Association, which organized the Schlosspark tournament, held the Wickrath Riding Days in September as a replacement. This was a tournament with jumping competitions up to class S with two stars. On the Whitsun weekend of 2016, the palace park tournament will be held again, the program was taken over from the Wickrather Reitertage.

Grand Prix

The Gladbacher Bank Prize on the last day of the tournament represents the Grand Prize of the Palace Park Tournament.
