history
In 1967 the clubs SZ Brend and SC Schonach organized a joint event for the first time under the name “International Ski Competitions Schonach / Neukirch”. The German Edi Lengg won the first competition. From 1971 the event was carried out solely by SC Schonach. From then on, the name of the event was "International Nordic Combination for the Black Forest Cup". The Schonach sculptor Klaus Ringwald designed the corresponding trophy and created a bronze cast with ornaments and embedded rock crystals . The original of this cup was donated by Ernst Schmieder as a challenge cup . The winner receives a small replica of the original cup every year. From 1972 to 1985 there was also a junior classification in which a trophy also designed by Ringwald was awarded. In 1979 the Volksbank Triberg commissioned a new production of the winner's prize. Wolfgang Beyer designed the new award.
Since 1984, the event has officially been part of the Nordic Combined World Cup competition program, which is hosted by the FIS .
