The suspension railway station Varresbecker Straße (formerly only Varresbeck ) is a station of the Wuppertal suspension railway in the Elberfeld-West district of the city of Wuppertal . It is located on the waterway between the suspension railway stations Zoo / Stadion (towards Vohwinkel) and Westende (towards Oberbarmen).
In the course of the suspension railway modernization in 2001, the station was completely rebuilt.
location
The Varresbecker Straße stop is located directly on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße ( B 7 ). The western part of the Bayer plant and parts of the residential areas of Nützenberg and the zoo district are also in the immediate vicinity . It connects to the districts of Varresbeck and Kiesberg .
It forms a group with the stations Westende , Pestalozzistraße and Robert-Daum-Platz .
History and architecture
The station opened on March 1, 1901.
On August 13, 2001, the modernization measures by the Cologne architects Jaspert and Steffens were completed. As with the nearby stations, the wood covering and the gable roof were retained. A total of 32 cubic meters of concrete, 271 tons of steel and 592 square meters of glass were used.
