Swiss cycling marathon

The Swiss Cycling Marathon , from 2013 Swiss Cycling Marathon, was a cycling marathon that took place from 2001 to 2014 and offered distances between 110 and 900 km. The trips served as a qualification for the Paris – Brest – Paris certification . At the Swiss Cycling Marathon, it was also possible to qualify for the Race Across America cycle race , which runs over 5000 km from the US west to the east coast.

The Swiss Cycling Marathon offered the following routes

  • 110 km
  • 180 km
  • 300 km (certification)
  • 600 km (certification)
  • 700 km (Brevet and RAAM qualification)
  • Swiss 900 km (Randonneurs and RAAM qualification)

The tracks were all on the basis trained cyclists, randonneurs and RAAM open -Qualifikanten. The RAAM qualification was possible on the 700 km and 900 km long track.

The routes were newly chosen for 2012 to 2014.

The Swiss Cycling Marathon always offered further brevets from Paris – Brest – Paris. These were usually carried out during a so-called certification week:

  • 200 km Monday
  • 300 km Wednesday
  • 400 km Friday

Checkpoints - refreshment stations

The Swiss Cycling Marathon had 11 checkpoints and refreshment stations. They offered sufficient free food for the participants at intervals of less than 100 km.

Participation was possible without a license. It was a so-called race for everyone .

Online tracking

The Swiss Cycling Marathon offered online tracking of RAAM qualifiers for Internet viewers and tracking after checkpoint for all participants.
