Sean Ellis (2007)

Sean Ellis (* 1970 in Brighton ) is a British film director , author , film producer and fashion photographer who was nominated for an Oscar in 2006.

Life

Ellis, who worked as a fashion photographer for Vogue , Jean Paul Gaultier , H&M and Hugo Boss , among others , also shot music videos in the beginning . In 2006 he shot a feature film version of his Oscar-nominated short film Cashback under the same title , and the cast and crew were the same. The feature film received the jury award at the Bermuda International Film Festival and the CICAE Award from the Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián . In 2008 his next project came about, the British-French horror thriller The Broken with Lena Headey in the lead role. The production was nominated in 2008 at the Sitges Film Festival for the award in the categories “Best Film” and “Best Cinematography”. The Broken won in the Best Camera category . On his next project, the detective film Metro Manila (2013), Ellis not only directed, but was also co-producer, co-writer and camera. The film was submitted for an Oscar as a British entry for “Best Foreign Language Film” , but was not nominated. He won nine other awards and eleven other nominations. Ellis' latest project, the film Anthropoid , is based on the true story of two Czech soldiers who were supposed to eliminate SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich .

With his 2011 published illustrated book Kubrick The Dog (dt. Kubrick The Dog ) sought Ellis a way to death to process his dog, who was suffering from a malignant lymphoma. Ellis named his dog after Stanley Kubrick , a film director he admired .

Ellis, who is married, is based in London.
