Sensation in Morgan's Creek is a 1944 American screwball comedy directed by Preston Sturges .
action
At a wild farewell party for soldiers who go to war, the small town woman Trudy Kockenlocker marries a soldier in a completely drunk state, without being able to remember his name afterwards. To make matters worse, she later finds out that she is pregnant by her unknown husband. Her long-time admirer Norval Jones offers her his help, but ends up in custody thanks to unfortunate incidents. The efforts of her overly cautious father, Constable Edmund Kockenlocker, only worsen the situation. When the situation seems hopeless, Trudy gives birth to sextuplets. She gets into the limelight and some high-ranking personalities ensure that the matter ends well for everyone involved.
background
Preston Sturges had previously made a number of successful films, such as Breathless to Florida , and established himself as one of the most successful directors in Hollywood. However, the Hays Code caused him great problems during the production of the film , as the authorities only left ten pages of the script unopposed. Brian Donlevy and Akim Tamiroff reappeared in their roles from the Sturges film The Great McGinty (1940). In the German synchro , the name Kakerlaker was used instead of Kockenlocker. The 1958 Jerry Lewis vehicle The Babysitter ( Rock-a-Bye Baby ) is essentially a remake of that film.
