Inger, a young Danish woman, works as a volunteer in a homeless shelter in Copenhagen . There she meets Kwame, an undocumented Ghanaian refugee, and falls in love with him. Both lead tough lives, but find solace in encounters with each other. They build a future together, but she does not know that Kwame left his wife and children at home. One day his child falls ill. To pay the hospital bills for the treatments, he steals money from the inn's coffers. Kwame gets caught up in lies that Inger believes him and continues to be with him. However, one day she found his cell phone and found out a lot about Kwame's life in Ghana.
