Ski Flying World Championship 1975
The third ski flying world championship was held from March 14th to 16th, 1975 at the Kulm in Bad Mitterndorf / Tauplitz . This was the first ski flying world championship on the Kulm. For this world championship, the ski jump was rebuilt in 1974 and a wind net was installed to protect the jumpers.
competition
The Czech Karel Kodejška was the overall winner after three days, he jumped 141, 144 and 143 meters; the runner-up Rainer Schmidt showed 142 and two 140 m; Karl Schnabl was only in 6th place after the 2nd day, but with 145 m he won the third day's ranking and still got the bronze medal. Jurij Ivanov even flew 150 m in the first round on March 16. In contrast, Prydz missed his chances when he only got 130 m in the first round.
There were still various problems with the evaluation or the "relativization" of the flights, because on the first day of the competition Schnabl had flown 151 m, but the reward remained undervalued in view of the fact that Schmidt's 157 m tobogganing had been used as a benchmark.
Curiously, Schnabl had initially just prevailed against Hans Millonig in the internal Austrian qualification .
On the first day, Frithjof Prydz won ahead of Kodejška and Schmidt, Schnabl and Jochen Danneberg were fourth ; Reinhold Bachler fell and finished 22nd.
The (second) daily ranking (March 15) was won by Kodejška ahead of Walter Steiner and Rudolf Höhnl (6th place for Hans Wallner and 12th for Schnabl), Prydz continued to lead ahead of Kodejška and Schmidt; Wallner was ranked 7th behind Schnabl. The starting order was based on the placement after the first day, after which the best-placed Prydz started last.
