Sokcho is a city in Gangwon Province in northeast South Korea . Located on the east coast of the country on the Sea of Japan , it is best known as a starting point for a trip to the nearby Seoraksan National Park.
history
Sokcho is north of the 38th parallel and was part of North Korea before the Korean War .
