features

The imago of Somatochlora incurvata measures 49-59 mm, of which 38 to 47 millimeters on the abdomen ( abdominal ) omitted, which is on average within the genus. The brownish abdomen is lighter on the first segments than on the back. In addition, there is a lighter pattern of the abdomen, which is composed as follows: A light apical ring is located together with two spots directly above and below the auricle on the second segment. The latter spots partially merge. On the third segment are the triangles typical of the genus, which are slightly shorter than normal. Between the fourth or fifth and the seventh or eighth segment, there are small yellow-brown points at the base of the segments.

The part of the chest ( thorax ) to which the wings attach, the so-called pterothorax, is brown in the front area and more diffuse in color on the sides. The brownish part has a metallic green sheen. Overall, it is covered with small white hairs. The hind wings measure 31 to 37 millimeters. The wings are transparent and only partially whitewashed brown.

In very dark face, the forehead (is frons ) tri-color yellow, brown and colored metallic green. The anteclypeus is yellow and the postclypeus is brown and has a yellow border only below. The remaining parts of the head are black.
