Name and throne of Sethos I.

Istabl Antar ( Arabic إسطبل عنتر Istabl 'Antar , DMG Isṭabl ʿAntar ; also Speos Artemidos , "Grotto of Artemis ") is an archaeological site in Middle Egypt . Here, about five kilometers south of the rock tombs of Beni Hasan in Middle Egypt, is the rock temple of Queen Hatshepsut from the 18th Dynasty ( New Kingdom ). The temple is dedicated to the lion goddess Pachet , for whom a cult in this area is only documented from the New Kingdom.

The monument was not completed because both the Hathor pillars at the temple entrance and the inner area of the temple are unfinished. However, the image of the goddess Pachet can still be found in a niche inside. The entrance area has a dedicatory inscription containing the "denunciation of the Hyksos ". In the portico there are depictions of the queen with various gods. However, the name cartouches in the hall are those of Seti I (19th Dynasty), who usurped the rock temple and had the rest of the decoration done. Istabl Antar is comparable with the rock temple Haremhab in Jabal al-Silsila .

In the vicinity of the rock temple , graves of "sacred cats" were mainly found from the late period .
