The St. Franziskus-Stiftung Münster , based in Münster, is a non-profit, church-based group of companies that has existed since 1997.
In North Rhine-Westphalia and Bremen, it currently maintains 15 hospitals, nine facilities for the disabled and the elderly, as well as other investments and the like. a. at outpatient rehabilitation centers, nursing services and hospices.
history
The foundation was established in 1997. It goes back to the activities of the religious order of the Franciscan Sisters of Münster-St. Mauritz , which has existed since 1844 and is mainly active in nursing. In 2004, the religious order brought the hospitals it had built up and operated into the St. Franziskus Foundation in Münster. This undertook to preserve the works and values taken over and to continue the tasks in the sense of the order.
Companies
The group of companies maintains around 4,000 beds in its hospitals; around 500,000 people receive inpatient and outpatient treatment there every year. Around 1000 places are available in long-term facilities. The company employs around 12,000 people. The annual turnover in 2016 was € 797 million. It is the largest Catholic hospital group in northwest Germany. The core business of the group is supported in the areas of logistics and facility management through the services of commercial companies.
Klaus Goedereis has been the chairman of the foundation's board of directors since May 1, 2009. Daisy Hünefeld and, since June 1, 2013, Nils Brüggemann also belong to the foundation's board of directors. The board of trustees includes Hans-Michael Wolffgang (chairman), Hannelore Huesmann, Berthold Bonekamp-Kerkhoff, Ludger Hellenthal, Stephan Ulrich, Matthias Scheller, Gert-Maria Freimuth.
