Stefan Weiler

Stefan Weiler (born January 5, 1960 in Stuttgart ) is a German church musician , conductor and music teacher .

life and work

Weiler studied Catholic church music in Mainz, Saarbrücken and Freiburg and completed his studies in Freiburg with the A-exam. Professors W. Wehnert, W. Schäfer and H.-M. took over his training in choral and orchestral conducting. Beuerle. In addition, Stefan Weiler was a student of Helmuth Rilling and perfected his work through master classes and seminars with John Eliot Gardiner and Uwe Gronostay.

Stefan Weiler is a member of the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart . As assistant to Helmuth Rilling, he worked with many European ensembles (Gächinger Kantorei and Bachcollegium Stuttgart, Athens Radio Choir and Orchestra, Madrid Radio Choir, Krakow Bach Academy Choir, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra ). At the annual Bach Week in Stuttgart he is u. a. alongside Helmuth Rilling , Masaaki Suzuki and Georg Christoph Biller regularly as a lecturer, where he has been leading the “Bachwoche Choir” since 1999.

Stefan Weiler has been the musical director of the Rothenfels Castle Easter Conference for many years. As a guest of the Munich Bach Choir , he conducted the opening concert of the Festival de Pollenca on Mallorca in 2002. In 2001 he founded a Bach Academy in Krasnoyarsk (Siberia). Since then he has organized master classes, talks and main concerts there in cooperation with the Krasnoyarsk Academy and the cultural administration.

In 1979, Stefan Weiler founded the Mainz Figural Choir , which he led until it was dissolved in 2014.
