Stelvio Cipriani

Stelvio Cipriani (born August 20, 1937 in Rome ; † October 1, 2018 there ) was an Italian film composer .

Life

Cipriani studied piano at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome and initially traveled as a pianist on cruise ships . After his return to Italy he accompanied Rita Pavone , among others ; in the late 1950s and early 1960s he was also in the United States, where he played with Dave Brubeck .

In 1966 Cipriani composed the soundtrack for the Spaghetti Western Without a dollar, no coffin , after which he composed for over 200 films. He worked mainly in Italy, but also wrote the music for the Hollywood- coproduced film The Polyp - the Beast with the Arms of Death with John Huston and Henry Fonda in the leading roles. In addition to westerns, he has also written for various other genres such as horror and action films .

In 2007 Quentin Tarantino used one of his pieces in Death Proof . Three of his plays (“ La polizia sta a guardere ”, “ La polizia ha le mani legate ” and “ La polizia chiede aiuto ”) were used in the 2009 film Amer by Hélène Catti and Bruno Forzani.
