The Order Star of the Socialist Republic of Romania ( Romanian : Ordinul Steaua Republicii Socialiste România ) was an award of the Socialist Republic of Romania .

It was founded on April 13, 1966 by Decree No. 271 of the Council of State by renaming the Order of Stern of the People's Republic of Romania . The award was given to people who had contributed to the further development of the socialist order and to the achievement of national freedom and independence through their work and through their struggle in the political, social, cultural and scientific fields. By the end of Ceausescu - regime the award, the highest general was Order of Merit of the country.

Classes

The order had five classes in the shape of a star, which were worn on the left breast. Its appearance corresponds to the second form of the Star Order of the People's Republic of Romania , only the capital letters RPR have been replaced by RSR in the national coat of arms .

  • 1st class: the medal is a five-pointed gold-plated star with five broad rays at the tips. The middle beam is filled with similibrillants . The medallion is surrounded by a laurel wreath tied at the bottom with fruits. The ring of the medallion is also set with similibrillants. The medallion is enameled carmine red and, like all classes, is covered with the coat of arms of the Socialist Republic of Romania.
  • 2nd class: the appearance of the order is similar to that of the 1st class, but the central ray of the beam is not covered with stones.
  • 3rd class: the medal is similar to that of the 2nd class, except for the state coat of arms in the medallion in silver.
  • 4th class: the medal in silver, the laurel wreath patinated. The edge around the medallion is smooth and not set with stones. The medallion is enameled blue.
  • 5th class: the medal is entirely in silver with the exception of the state coat of arms, the medallion is enamelled in transparent orange.

On the back of all classes there is a transverse safety connector in the upper half.

For members of the government and for heads of state, 1st and 2nd class pieces were made in fine gold.
