The medal consists of a blue enamelled, gold-rimmed cross, in the corners of which golden rays appear. It hangs on a golden crown. In the center of the cross is a medallion surrounded by a green oak wreath , the front of which bears a golden eagle on a red enameled background, which is surrounded by a blue enamel ring, on which the motto IN FIDE SALUS is written in golden letters . On the back, the medallion bears the name of the donor CI (Carol I.). For military merit, crossed swords were inserted through the middle or between the cross and the crown.

The ribbon is red with a blue-red-blue border.
