Straufhain is a municipality in the Hildburghausen district in the Franconian south of Thuringia on the border with Bavaria ( Upper Franconia , Coburg district ).

The voluntary amalgamation of the parishes to form the unified parish Straufhain took place in 1993. The parish Linden joined the unified parish on January 1, 1996 . The municipal administration has its seat in Streufdorf. Since December 31, 2013, it has been part of the Heldburger Unterland administrative community . In the Straufhain area there were 45 witch trials from 1614 to 1679 in the districts of Linden, Seidingstadt, Steinfeld, Stressenhausen and Streufdorf .
