Stuhlfelden is a municipality in Oberpinzgau the district Zell am See (Pinzgau) , Salzburg , Austria , with 1,588 inhabitants (1 January 2020). It belongs to the Hohe Tauern National Park .
geography
The community is located in the Salzach Valley , about 25 kilometers from Zell am See . The relatively small municipality stretches north into the Kitzbühel Alps as far as the border with Tyrol in the northwest, in the south only the northern slopes of the Granatspitzgrat foothills belong to the municipality. The highest point in the community is 2363 m above sea level. A. high Geißstein in the north, südlichster point on Sturmannseck ( ⊙ ), the ascent to the Zwölferkogel ( 2446 m ), the twelve o'clock mountain of local Stuhlfelden.

history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 963 as ad Stoulveldum , making it the oldest mentioned municipality in the Oberpinzgau. It is mentioned as a parish as early as 1160. As a place in the Prince Archbishopric of Salzburg , Stuhlfelden was Salzburg until 1806 and came to Austria with Salzburg in 1816.
As one of the original parishes of the Pinzgau, Stuhlfelden is also the seat of a Roman Catholic deanery (Archdiocese of Salzburg), responsible for the Upper Pinzgau .

The main town of the municipality is the village of Stuhlfelden , with around 1,300 inhabitants. It lies above the northern bank of the Salzach at the valley exit of the Stuhlfeldner Bach , at the southern foot of the Stimmelhöhe (the village of Stuhlfelden , a foothill of the Gaißstein ), and the Manlitzkogel ( 2247 m ).
The Rotte Burgwies in the west also belong to the village . The cadastral community also includes the areas of the localities Pirtendorf and Wilhelmsdorf .

- Lichtenau Castle (Stuhlfelden 23): built in the first decade of the 16th century; with a square floor plan and five graceful corner turrets; now houses the general special school; the castle is right in the village
- Parish church Maria Himmelfahrt (Maria am Stein) and cemetery (Stuhlfelden 41): first mentioned in 1140, built in Romanesque style, but renovated and expanded in Gothic, 58 m high pointed helmet tower; Worth seeing equipment , Romanesque arched portal - church with cemetery are under monument protection

- Schwaigergut (Schwaigerlehen / Berngarten) (Stuhlfelden 14): Listed farmhouse, Pinzgau multi-storey courtyard from the 16th century in block construction with aisles, the inside preserved Rauchkuchl , over 500 years old

Burgwies spa
The spa is located on the sunny mountain slope west of Stuhlfelden towards Mittersill ( ⊙ ). It is mentioned as early as 1450. Today it is used privately.
It is an acratic calcium-magnesium-sodium-hydrogen carbonate-sulfur source with iron content, which is heated. Diseases of the musculoskeletal system (postoperative therapy), rheumatic diseases, gynecological diseases, neurological diseases are mentioned as indications.
