A new application process was applied for the first time to award the Super Bowls LVII and LVIII . The previous bidding process was abolished, but the NFL officials were now allowed to enter into negotiations with cities and give them the opportunity to submit an offer for the implementation of the event together with the stadium operators. On May 23, 2018, the Super Bowl LVII was finally awarded to the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona and the Super Bowl LVIII to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans , Louisiana .
