Club soccer
She began her football career at the age of three at MFC 08 Lindenhof . In 2002 she had to change clubs because, according to the statutes of the German Football Association, girls are not allowed to play in a boys' team beyond the age of 14. As her club did not have a girls' team at the time, she joined Viktoria Neckarhausen for a year and a half.

There she first played for the B-Juniors , before she made it into the squad of the first team in 2004 when she reached the age of sixteen and reached the minimum age for women's teams, for which she played in the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup and the UEFA Women's Cup was used.
In 2007 she left Frankfurt as a double winner and went to SC Freiburg . There she made twelve appearances in the Bundesliga in the first season despite several injuries. With six goals this season, she was behind Melanie Behringer (7 goals) the second most successful goalscorer of the eighth-placed sports club. In the 2008/09 season she scored twelve goals in 17 games as a regular player. This made her the club's most successful goalscorer and the seventh best goalscorer in the entire league.
For the 2010/11 season she moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , with whom she was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2013 as champions of the 2nd Bundesliga South. After the 2013/14 season, Hartel was bid farewell in Hoffenheim.
