Career

Schipplock started playing football at FC Engstingen at the age of four and moved to the C-youth team for one year at SSV Reutlingen 05 . He went to TSV Sondelfingen, for which he played another year of C-youth and two years of B-youth. For the A-youth he moved to VfL Pfullingen , for whom he played for a year. In 2006 Schipplock returned to SSV Reutlingen 05 and became a regular player in the 2007/08 regional league season .

In January 2008 he moved to VfB Stuttgart and signed a licensed player contract dated until June 2011. Schipplock made his professional debut on July 26, 2008 on the first day of the 2008/09 season for the second team of VfB in the 3rd professional league against Kickers Offenbach . On October 30, 2010 he made his debut for the first team of VfB Stuttgart in the game against VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga . On December 1, 2010, he made his debut against BSC Young Boys in the Europa League and scored his first competitive goal for the VfB Bundesliga team. He scored his first Bundesliga goal on March 13, 2011 when VfB played at FC St. Pauli .

In the summer break of 2011, Schipplock moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on a free transfer . He signed a three-year contract. On September 18, 2011 he was used for the first time in the TSG Regionalliga team; he scored five goals in the 8-0 win against SC Pfullendorf and prepared another for Kai Herdling .

For the 2015/16 season , Schipplock moved to Hamburger SV . He signed a contract that ran until summer 2018. He played his first league game for HSV on matchday 1: In the 5-0 away defeat against FC Bayern Munich , the striker was in the starting line-up and was substituted for Pierre-Michel Lasogga in the 69th minute . Under Bruno Labbadia , Schipplock could not prevail and did not score a goal of the season in his 20 Bundesliga appearances.

For the 2016/17 season he switched to league rivals SV Darmstadt 98 on loan . On April 29, 2017, he scored his first Bundesliga goal after 736 days in a 3-0 win against SC Freiburg . He scored another goal on the last day of the match in a 2-2 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach . Schipplock played 23 times in the Bundesliga for Darmstadt 98, but was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with them .

For the season 2017/18 returned Schipplock for HSV back. There he met trainer Markus Gisdol , with whom he had already worked in Hoffenheim (2013-2015). However, Schipplock could not prevail under Gisdol or his successors Bernd Hollerbach and Christian Titz . In ten league appearances, he scored no goal. After the descent of HSV and the expiry of his contract, he left the club at the end of the season.

For the 2018/19 season, Schipplock moved to the 2nd Bundesliga to Arminia Bielefeld . He signed a contract that runs until June 30, 2021. On May 30, 2020, Schipplock met after a lot of bad luck with injuries and more than 1000 days since his last goal for Darmstadt 98 for Arminia Bielefeld's 2-1 win in stoppage time at Holstein Kiel . With Arminia, he rose to the Bundesliga as a second division champion at the end of the season.
