Phoenix Racing or Audi Sport Team Phoenix is a German racing team. Phoenix was founded in 1999 in Meuspath near the Nürburgring . Team boss is Ernst Moser .

DTM

Phoenix has been represented in the DTM since the series was revived in 2000 , initially as an Opel works team with the Opel Astra V8 Coupé , driven by Manuel Reuter and Michael Bartels . Reuter was able to record four victories in the first year and at the end of the season finished in second place behind master Bernd Schneider in the drivers' championship . However, since Opel lost touch with Mercedes-Benz and Audi , no top placements could be achieved until Opel left the factory at the end of 2005 . During this time, Phoenix was able to work with Joachim Winkelhock ,Timo Scheider , Laurent Aïello and Heinz-Harald Frentzen have signed some of the series' top stars.

From 2006 , Phoenix drove with factory support from Audi. In the first Audi season, however , Phoenix with Christian Abt only achieved fifth place as the best result. In 2007 , alongside Christian Abt, Midland Formula 1 test driver Alexandre Prémat was hired . But already at the opening race at the Hockenheimring Prémat got into one of the worst accidents in DTM history, in which he collided with the spinning Tom Kristensen and Susie Stoddart . Prémat suffered a crack in his lumbar vertebra in the accident and had to stop the race in Oschersleben . He was replaced in this run by Marco Werner . In the further course of the season Prémat achieved second place behind Martin Tomczyk . Christian Abt ended his DTM driving career at the end of the season. In 2008 Phoenix occupied the cockpit alongside Prémat with Briton Oliver Jarvis . This season, too, Prémat managed to place in the top three at Le Mans . In 2009 the team's upward trend continued. Oliver Jarvis achieved two podiums at Hockenheim and Zandvoort and with this season's performance he became the best Audi year-old driver. In the 2010 season , Mike Rockenfeller and Alexandre Prémat formed the driver duo for Team Phoenix. Before the last race of the season Prémat was dismissed because of disagreements with the manufacturer, so that Phoenix Racing provided for the start of Darryl O'Young . In the 2011 season Martin Tomczyk and the Swiss Rahel Frey competed for Phoenix Racing. While Rahel Frey struggled as expected, Martin Tomczyk was able to finish in the top three in the second race. In the third race at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, he clinched his first victory in a long time for Phoenix Racing and the first for an Audi year-old car. Tomczyk clinched another win at Brands Hatch in the further course of the season and secured the championship prematurely with third place in the penultimate race in Valencia . This was the first time Phoenix Racing had led a driver to a title win in the DTM and at the same time secured the first championship title for a driver of a year-old car in the history of the DTM. In 2013 Team Phoenix won the second title with Mike Rockenfeller.
