biography

The trio The Krauts (from the English name Krauts for the Germans) consists of the Berlin musicians David Conen and Vincent von Schlippenbach and Dirk Berger from Cologne.

Until 2004 Conen and von Schlippenbach were members of the band Moabeat under the names Monk and DJ Illvibe . They had already written and produced band releases and after the band left they took on this task for other hip-hop performers. They were joined by Dirk Heinz Berger, who played guitar in Schlippenbach's new jazz band Lychee Lassi . Her first big success was in 2006 when she took part in the title of Seeed's Bundesvision Song Contest Ding . In the following year they worked for Seeed member Boundzound on his successful solo debut album. They also produced the album Chefa for Miss Platnum , who had started as a background singer with Moabeat .

Her greatest success so far was the production of the album Stadtaffe including the single hit Haus am See by Peter Fox . It was number 1 in the German album charts for four weeks and was successful across national borders. Together with Fox, they then received the award as Producer of the Year at the Echo Awards 2009 . In 2009 they produced the album The Sweetest Hangover for Miss Platnum and in 2011 for Marteria the album Zum Glück in die Zukunft . They also worked for Die Fantastischen Vier , the Beatsteaks and Cassandra Steen .

In 2012 the Krauts signed with the music publisher BMG . Then they produced the EP Lila Wolken for Marteria, Miss Platnum and Yasha Conen , David's brother . The title song of the same name, Lila Wolken , reached number 1 in the German single charts. Yasha's album Weltraumtourist was also produced by them.

At the end of 2013 they produced the album Zum Glück in die Zukunft II for Marteria , from which the two single hits Kids (2 fingers on the head) and OMG! have been successfully decoupled.

At the beginning of 2014 they produced the album Glück und Petrol for Miss Platnum , from which the singles 99 Problems , Last Dance and Glück und Petrol were extracted.

In summer 2015 they produced the album Ring der Nebelungen for Marsimoto , from which the singles La Saga , Illegalize It and Tijuana Flow were extracted.

Success at the Bundesvision Song Contest

The Krauts took part as authors in the Bundesvision Song Contest between 2006 and 2014 five times. In 2006 they wrote the winning title Ding for Seeed . In 2009 they won again with the song Schwarz zu blau they wrote for Peter Fox . However, both winning titles were only written by Connen and Schlippenbach, Berger only worked on the other three pieces. Connen and Schlippenbach, along with Peter Fox, are among the only authors to win the competition twice. Both also hold the record for the most participations as authors, Berger follows in the ranking list in third place (together with Marcus Brosch and Sebastian Kirchner) with his three participations. Connen and Schlippenbach are also the only authors who participated twice with two titles during a competition.

  • 2009: Marteria - Born to be a king (Berger, Connen and Schlippenbach)
