Theo Akkermann

Theo Akkermann (born November 1, 1907 in Krefeld ; † August 1, 1982 there ) was a German sculptor.

Akkermann studied from 1926 to 1929 at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Krefeld and at the Art Academy in Hamburg, then until 1931 at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris and in 1932/33 at the Berlin Academy of Arts with Hugo Lederer and Fritz Klimsch . In 1950 he took over a professorship and head of a sculpture class at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. From 1957 he worked as a professor in Ghent. Akkermann, who had studios in Krefeld, Hüls and Mönchengladbach, created sacred works and monuments , among other things .
