Death and grave

Grave monument for Theodor Döring in Berlin-Kreuzberg

Theodor Döring had his last stage appearance on June 15, 1878, when he played Attinghausen in a production of Friedrich Schiller's Wilhelm Tell at the Berlin Court Theater. After the end of the theater season, he sought recovery from a stomach ailment in Homburg vor der Höhe , but from there he returned to the Spree, still ailing. Theodor Döring died eight days later, on the night of August 17, 1878, at the age of 75 in Berlin.

The funeral service, led by Gustav Lisco , took place on August 20, 1878 in the deceased's apartment on Leipziger Strasse . Friedrich Haase , Minona Frieb-Blumauer and Karl Gustav Berndal were among the actors present . The coffin was then led in a large funeral procession to Cemetery III of the Jerusalem and New Churches in front of the Hallesches Tor , where the burial took place. Arthur Deetz spoke the words of mourning at the grave .

The preserved grave monument, made by the Vanelli company, is a tall, narrow obelisk, the upper part of which is worked as a covering theater curtain. An ivy-covered burial mound and a post-chain connection surrounding the burial site no longer exist.
